Without any doubt, a big problem that affects our society is Air Pollution. This problem has been increased because of the way we live nowadays. Mostly, air is being polluted in urban areas where there are many sources of smog. The places where we find the highest levels of smog are in big cities like Mexico City, Monterrey and Guadalajara. The characteristics in those places are: overpopulation, too many cars and industry. Not only the cars but also the factories produce a lot of smog that contaminate the fresh air.
An effect of Air Pollution is illness on human respiratory system, another effect is on the health of animals like birds. These effects are in small scale, but also there are some effects in large scale like Greenhouse Effect which heat is unable to escape from the atmosphere and causes the temperature of the Earth to rise. And the consequence is Global Warming.
This is a big problem that affects us as a society, but not only nowadays also affects the new generations. If we don’t do something to solve it, our children will suffer the consequences. One thing to do about it is to use less our cars and use public transportation. Another way to reduce the air pollution is to change the way factories expel their smoke. Efforts to solve the problem have done yet, for example the government of Mexico City implemented a program called “Hoy no circula”. The program works with a distinctive color in the license plate, for example: red, green and yellow. The government says the cars with red color in their license plates don’t circulate today. In that way a lot of smog isn’t being produced by cars.
It is a smart solution, isn’t it?
